What’s new

with me?

People have been asking me, ‘What’s new with you, Katie?’. And my answer is, ‘A lot!’

November 2023

October was a busy month for me: lot’s of change and two new jobs!

I am part of cohort 7 of the Creative Futures Incubator, where I get 6 months of mentoring and 12 months of membership to 1 Mill Street Co-working space. This all started in October, with mentoring sessions, group training and 24/7 access to 1 Mill Street. It has been busy and a big change but I absolutely love it. The Mill Street vibe is so great, I feel motivated, inspired and I’m surrounded by other creative people to give me great advice, support and jobs!

Some of you may know my thoughts over summer were to get a position in a design agency but I’ve taken the leap to boost my own business for several reasons. It gives me to freedom to pick and choose the jobs I want to do. It means I can meet a variety of people who I wouldn’t normally work with and learn from. And finally, it gives me the opportunity to develop my skills and offer them to my local creative community, where my skills are sought after. I can provide small business and other creatives in my community with amazing motion graphics that take their visual identity to another level!

Not only did I start working at 1 Mill Street in October, I also started lecturing! I’m leading three modules on the BA Graphic Design with Photography at Warwickshire College University Centre. Teaching graphic design principles, lens based image making and collaborative practice has brought me so much joy the past few weeks. I’ve only been teaching the classes for a month, but I am really enjoying it. Lecturing has not only provided me with a regular routine and income, but also an opportunity to develop my skills with the time to research and push my technical knowledge further, which in turn means I can offer more for my business.

It’s been a busy month and it’s been so enjoyable! I look forward to what’s to come next!
