POETRY IN THE DARKNESS.

This project collates photographs that I took on my break from studying . It was a time I used to explore and practice seeing the world through a lens. I photographed the images at home and on holiday in Cornwall and Devon using a Sony DSLR. At The Lost Gardens of Heligan, I stumbled upon creating a dark, moody and romantic atmosphere inspired by the dark yet still vibrant jungle. I also enjoyed exploring the layers of time locked in the scenery of mines and caves, and the drama of the coast looking out onto the far reaching ocean. This aesthetic came to me through experimentation and freedom and encapsulates my desire to create art that is poetic and meaningful. The images stir something within me - a lust for comfort, nostalgia and a magnetism that (despite being the creator of the images) leads me back to look closer and see new details and messages in darkness.
